How many books, blog posts, sermons, and lectures have been written or spoken on the subject that you were meant to be you and only you? There is no one else like you. God made you to carry out the unique purpose for which you were created.
Those topics flood the airspace and blogosphere and pulpits.
Yet …
People still struggle with self-worth. So many inner reels playing over and over the same story: I’m not good enough. I wish I could be more like ______. And the like.
It really is so silly. I mean, really. When we really ponder that topic to its fullest, it is silly. How can two people be alike? Even identical twins cannot manage it. Why do you think you can manage being like someone else?
Why would you want to? Why would you want to emulate someone else? You’ll just come off as a copy, not an original. Why would you not want to find out why you were created exactly as you are? I know some of the answers to that question, but I’m sure there are as many different answers as there are people. Why would such diverse answers exist?
BECAUSE EVERYONE IS UNIQUE SO EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT TAKE ON THAT SUBJECT.
Along with every other subject. Proof that we need to settle it in our minds and our hearts that we need to just be ourselves.
It is an actual impossibility to be just like someone else. We can glean from others, learn from others, strengthen our skills and sharpen our thinking by listening and observing others. But we cannot be them.
And we shouldn’t want to be.
You are exactly who you are supposed to be. Sure, we all need to grow, but growth is not becoming a different person; it is becoming a better person or a stronger person or a more skilled person.
Not different.
Yes, I ponder stuff like this. That is who I am. I like talking about real stuff, not just fluff. That’s me.
Now, I’m going to go make myself a cup of tea. Because that’s me, too.
Want to join me for tea? That would be awesome.
