Let it Rain!

I live near St. Louis. It’s been raining.

And raining.

And raining.

Here’s a tidbit about me: I really, strongly (very strongly) dislike rain. I know it is necessary for life. But I don’t like it. I don’t like feeling moist all the time. I don’t like the hassle of trying to keep a hairstyle, a dry bag of groceries, or dry feet. But it continues. Even now.

Then I stopped and looked at my lovely purple smoke bush yesterday.

It reminded┬áme of a very old hymn: “There shall be showers of blessing.”

And it made me want to hold on to the mercy drops like my lovely little bush outside my front door. So I shall.

There shall be showers of blessing:
This is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Savior above.

Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy-drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

There shall be showers of blessing,
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys,
Sound of abundance of rain.
